Genesis — a free 3D MMO built on Conquer Online

Genesis

Four classes. One world. Everything you own, you won.

Gameplay teaser

Recorded beta gameplay from Twin City and the hunting maps, including jumping and each class in combat.

A free 3D MMO with old-school stakes

Four classes, one world, and a gear chase that means something: plus-levels, sockets and gems you win by playing, not by paying. Guild War puts the city itself on the line every week. No subscription, no cash shop. Genesis rebuilds the 2003 systems of Conquer Online on a modern engine, with a server that decides everything and a client that only draws it.

Free to play

No box price, no subscription, no pay-to-win. Make an account and play.

Classic systems

Plus-levels, sockets and gems, quality tiers, dye, item repair, booths, PK flagging and jail — the systems that made the original, not a nostalgic skin over a modern game.

Guild war, on a clock

A scheduled war for the city. Take the pole, hold the gates, and the realm sees who owns the map.

Quests that tell you where you stand

Sixteen quests down a chain of regional elders, eleven solo and five needing a full team of four. A collect objective makes the monsters you kill roll for the thing you were sent for, and a quest you cannot start yet names the requirement stopping you.

Three cameras, not one

Classic keeps the fixed isometric angle the original framed everything at. Modern orbits freely. Follow eases the view back behind you as you walk. Pick one in the settings and it stays where you put it.

English and Arabic

Both languages are first-class — the whole client, the website, and right-to-left layout throughout. Not a partial translation bolted on later.

About

Beyond the original

Genesis is built to the 2003 rules, but it is not bound by the 2003 conveniences. These are the parts the original never had.

Arabic all the way down

Not just the buttons. Every monster name, every item, every quest and every system message is written in Arabic, right to left, and a test refuses to build the game if a monster or item is missing its Arabic name. This site is bilingual for the same reason.

Your settings follow your account

Your camera, your action bar, your key bindings, your window positions and your language belong to your account, not to the computer. Share a machine with someone and you each keep your own; sit at a new one and the first login brings your setup with it.

Three cameras, not one

Classic for the original fixed angle, Modern for free orbit, Follow for a view that swings back behind you as you walk.

The game tells you why

When the server refuses something, it says what stopped it, on screen, in your language. No click that quietly does nothing and leaves you wondering whether it was sent.

Nobody can wear your name

A name is one alphabet — Latin or Arabic, never mixed — so no one can register a lookalike of yours out of characters that merely draw the same. Names are refused outright rather than silently rewritten into something you did not choose.

Windows, macOS and Linux

One game, three platforms, from the same build. The original was Windows and nothing else.

Your kill is your loot

What a monster drops is yours alone for the first ten seconds, so the player who did the work gets first reach. On a team you can choose to share money and items instead.

Nothing irreversible on one click

Packing up a stall, dropping an item, leaving the world — anything you cannot undo asks first, and cancelling leaves everything exactly as it was.

Patch 1007 — Levelling, Combat and the Map

Your level finally counts
  • Every level-up now raises Strength, Agility, Vitality and Spirit. It never did — a level 30 Archer was walking around with a level 1's attributes, her damage and HP coming from gear alone, and dying to monsters her own level.
  • Your character is repaired the first time you log in. Every point your climb owed you is paid out at once. Nothing to claim, nothing to press.
  • Up to level 120 your class places the points for you. From 120 they are yours to place. Below 120, Reset Attributes is refused and never charged — your class would only hand the same points straight back.

Combat
  • Your gear now grows with you between tiers. You used to fall behind for nineteen levels and take it all back in one shop trip; the climb is a curve now instead of a sawtooth.
  • No blow is erased any more. Every PvE hit lands for at least 15% of its roll — armour reduces damage, it never cancels it. Duels are untouched.
  • At most 2 monsters can swing at you at once, down from 4. The rest of the pack still closes in and holds its mark, and the two nearest are re-picked constantly — jump into the middle of a pack and whoever is closest now is the one hitting you.
  • Monsters no longer walk up to you, stop, and stroll home.

The map tells you where to hunt
  • Monster levels are drawn on the map — one "Lv" label per crowd, and for the whole map, not only the patch loaded around you. Twin City's 190 spawns read as 26 hunting grounds, Bird Island's 573 as 32.
  • A portal that leaves the map keeps a bright ring; a hop inside the same map is a faint tick. Bird Island's 31 internal portals no longer drown out the monsters and you.

New: the Guide button
  • A new button on the HUD, beside the language picker. Ask it where to hunt at your level, where to buy arrows, potions, armour or jewels, where to upgrade, and where an NPC stands.
  • Every answer is read from the live world, not from a script, and it drops a waypoint pin on your map so "over there" is a place you can see. English and Arabic.

Loot and items
  • What a fallen player drops is free to whoever is standing over it — gold, bag items and worn gear alike. A monster's loot is still held for the player who killed it.
  • The hover card shows an item's real attack. A Super +6 blade was advertising a Normal +0 blade's numbers.
  • Tier upgrade checks your level for items in your bag too. A level 30 Archer could turn her bow into a level 40 bow she could not hold, and lose the Meteors doing it.
  • Two new defensive gems: Tortoise (+12% Defense) and Violet (+10% Magic Defense) per gem. Refined is worth 1.5 gems, Super 2.

Buffs
  • Blessings sit on the buff bar with everything else, each with a live countdown in days, hours, minutes and seconds. Your Revive Stone is now a chip you can read while you are still alive.

Maps and walls
  • The castle masonry at the edge of the world is gone. There is a low fence where there is water, and the ground behind it is walkable — including Twin City's plaza, which had an invisible wall standing on visible paving.
  • Bird Island's terrace came down to a real two storeys; you can see the arcade instead of five metres of dark cobble.
  • Phoenix Castle's floating tree village is ordinary forest floor now, and you can walk it. The world-edge treeline is gone.

Fixes
  • Maps fill to their full monster population at server start. Phoenix Castle's Zombies used to be two and a half hours from filling in after a restart.
  • One party invite at a time, and the card clears itself. A new invite replaces the standing one, and re-invites work again.
  • An archer out of arrows lets go of the target instead of repeating "Out of arrows." forever.
  • Buying a stack of arrows no longer halves your framerate with the artisan or the dyer open.
  • A collapsed quest tracker keeps the current objective's "go here" line.
  • Switching language redraws whatever is open on screen, in the new language.

New monsters, Super glow, stats that grow

The old TQ monster models are gone. Every map now wears new creature bodies, and the name over the head is the thing you are looking at.

Hunt quests moved with the names. If you were killing Pheasants, you are killing Chickens now.

What you will see
  • Twin City field: Chicken, Eagle, Turtle, Giant Rooster
  • Spirits: Lich, elementals, Skeleton Archer, Skeleton Mage, Frost Giant
  • Ape Mountain: Imp, Dire Bear, Forest Demon, Lizardman, Cobra
  • Desert City: Stone Golem, Sand Golem, Crimson Brute, Skeleton Warrior, Pumpkin Ghost
  • Phoenix Castle: Hellguard Knight, Zombie, Fire Spirit, Ghoul, Wasp, Blue Wraith
  • Bird Island: Winged Demon, Skeleton Reaper, Bat, Horned Fiend, Orc
  • City guards wear knight plate. The Guild Beast is a molten elemental. You will see it in Saturday war.

Old name → new name
The ones people actually farm:
  • Pheasant → Chicken
  • Robin → Eagle
  • Turtledove → Turtle
  • Sand Monster → Stone Golem
  • Birdman → Winged Demon
  • Hawk → Skeleton Reaper
  • Macaque / Monkey → Imp
  • Giant Ape → Dire Bear
  • Thunder Ape → Forest Demon
  • Snakeman → Lizardman
  • Crazy Snake → Cobra
  • Bandit → Hellguard Knight or Horned Fiend
  • Robber → Orc
  • Blade Ghost → Skeleton Warrior
  • Hill Monster → Crimson Brute

Super glow
Super gear finally reads as Super. Worn pieces carry lightning in the item's glow colour, with a halo around the silhouette. A held weapon also burns. The swing leaves a trail. Plus 5 densifies the flame. Plus 8 is the one you can read across a street.

Stats
A level 30 Archer had Strength 5. Twenty-nine levels had bought her nothing. That is fixed.

You get 3 attribute points a level. Below 120 your class spends them for you (Strength, Agility, Vitality, Spirit). From 120 you place them yourself, and Reset is available for 2 DragonBalls. Log in once: every level you already have pays out the missing points.

Combat and loot
  • Gold scales with the mob. A Chicken drops about 100 to 140. An Eagle about 246 to 345.
  • Stackable drops land as stacks. Arrows come 30 at a time, not one.
  • A bow takes both hands. Only a quiver sits in the other.
  • At most four mobs can hit you at once. The rest chase or walk home.
  • Your weapon's swing speed is the swing speed. Clicking faster does nothing.
  • If you die, your gold, bag and gear hit the ground for anyone. No racing back for first dibs.

first-cast stutter fixed, ground detail restored

Skill effects no longer stutter the first time you cast them.
Every effect is now built once while the map loads, instead of the first time it appears in a fight. On our test machine the worst first cast fell from
25 ms to 0.5 ms. The pause on your first Thunder, Accuracy or Hercules is gone, and it covers every skill at every level, buff auras, and the bow's first
shot.

Twin City's ground has its detail back.
The paving had flattened into pale grey. Its stone courses, joints and wear are visible again.

The sun rakes across the world instead of shining straight down.
It sat almost directly overhead, which flattened every surface it lit. Off-axis, the ground has its relief back.

The news reaches Discord.
Every post here is mirrored to our announcements channel in both languages, and later edits follow it.
